Capsule Geology

The Kaipit occurrence is located on an unnamed tributary of Kaipit Creek, approximately 10 kilometres southwest of the community of Woss.

The area is underlain by basalts of the Triassic Karmutsen Formation and granodiorite of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite.

Locally, the basalts are well sheared and cut by granitoid dikes, related to the southwest contact of the Nimpkish pluton. Sulphide mineralization of pyrrhotite, pyrite, chalcopyrite and local molybdenite, occurs in skarn zones hosted in the Karmutsen basalts. The sulphides occur as pods, up to 45 centimetres in size.

In 2005, grab sampling of hand trenches yielded up to 0.181 gram per tonne platinum, 0.568 gram per tonne palladium, 0.903 gram per tonne gold, 14.4 grams per tonne silver and 7.95 per cent copper (Assessment Report 28110).

Work History

In 2005, Mammoth Geological Ltd. completed a minor program of prospecting and rock sampling on the area as the Kaipit property. In early 2019, David J. Bridge prospected and mapped the area as the Cap property.
